Certificates provide a distinctive pathway to the Lifewide Learning Award but there is no obligation to include a Certificate in your portfolio. They require a minimum of 100h of experience-based and reflective learning and they can be taken as freestanding certificates or be incorporated into your portfolio.
Enterprise Certificate
The Enterprise Certificate aims to provide university recognition for informal learning and personal development gained when students engage in activities that require them to be enterprising. For example, some part-time jobs, volunteering or student society-related activities might involve enterprise like finding new customers, raising money or organizing an event.
Entrepreneur Certificate
The Entrepreneur Certificate aims to provide university recognition for informal learning and personal development gained when students create a business idea and turn the idea into reality by starting, running and growing a business or social enterprise by themselves or in partnership with others.
Volunteering Certificate
The Volunteering Certificate aims to provide university recognition for informal learning and personal development gained through a portfolio of volunteering activities. Volunteering is driven by personal belief, values and commitment that it is important to help other people and try to make a difference. Research has shown that young people can and do increase their self-confidence and self-esteem, develop a range of communication and practical skills and improve their ability to work with other people through volunteering.

Work and Employability Certificate
The Learning through Work Certificate aims to provide university recognition for informal learning and personal development gained when students are involved in at least 100 hours of part-time or temporary fulltime (paid/unpaid) work which is not part of a Professional Training programme or necessarily related to their subject or programme of study. Its purpose is to help learners recognise and explain the personal development and employability skills they gain through work.
